Recap of Semper Soiree at Semperoper

“Beautiful Child of Song” – Semper Soiree at Semperoper Dresden

Semper Soiree 2015

Congratulations to all of the spectacular performers who made the Semper Soiree concert a tremendous success. Thank you so much to Ellen Rissinger, Julia Mintzer, Janosch Armer and Haedun Lee for their wonderful performance of Recuerdo. And big thank you to Semperoper Dramaturgin Anne Gerber and the audience for such a warm welcome.

Read more about the performance in an interview with Ellen Rissinger, Vocal Coach at the Semperoper Dresden, by Nicole Czerwinka, posted on Elbmargarita. In the interview, Ellen discusses what is unique about American art song, and what the audience can expect to hear on the Semper Soiree concert.

Part of the Act recording project

POTA recording1Part of the Act” is a comic opera in one act with libretto by John Grimmett and music by Liam Wade.

Please consider supporting my “Part of the Act” recording project with a tax deductible donation.

POTA was originally commissioned by Washington National Opera as a part of the inaugural American Opera Initiative produced at the Kennedy Center during the 2012-2013 season. The premiere performance was a tremendous success. However, it was not possible to make a recording at that time.

We have assembled a fantastic group of musicians for this recording project including two original WNO cast members, Julia Mintzer and Shantelle Przybylo, who were joined by two celebrated Philadelphia area musicians, pianist Louis Menendez, and John Packard singing the role of Seamus McGinley. The recording project took place March 23-25, 2015 in Philadelphia, PA.

You can listen to the studio recording here!
